Social Venture Partners Connecticut (SVP) is looking to hire a Director of Early Childhood Strategy to lead our statewide work in transforming the early childhood sector.nnThis is a historic moment given the opportunity to work with multiple stakeholders including the Office of Early Childhood, the business community, early childhood providers, community organizations, and parents to redesign the early childhood system in Connecticut. It is our expectation that Connecticut will be able to leverage substantial public and private sector resources to develop a high quality, accessible, affordable early learning system that will advance children’s learning and economic opportunities for families and make Connecticut the most family friendly state in the country.

nSVP is well positioned to support this transformational work through our involvement with the Office of Early Childhood (OEC), the Child Care for Connecticut’s Future advocacy coalition, and efforts to stand up an early childhood business coalition.

nThe Director of Early Childhood Strategy will report to SVP’s Executive Director and will be responsible for working with the OEC as well as diverse stakeholders to develop and support the execution of a comprehensive statewide Early Childhood plan that will transform the early childhood sector in Connecticut.

nCore Responsibilitiesn
- n
- Develop a roadmap/action plan to accelerate systems change in early childhood by supporting statewide and nonprofit initiatives through strategic planning, resourcing, coalition building, fundraising and advocacy.
- Partner with the OEC to develop a strategic plan for an accessible, affordable, equitable, high-quality childcare system. Provide strategic thought leadership and project management support for this project.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the early childhood field in order to accelerate systems change efforts, including:
- Providing support and coordination for OEC leaders, state government leaders, external stakeholders and SVP volunteers in building a plan that centers stakeholder voice with meaningful input and buy-in.
- Assisting community stakeholders and advocates as they engage in envisioning a transformed system and build power to advocate for increased public and private investment in early childhood.
- Partnering with business leaders, the State of Connecticut and philanthropy to help to encourage business engagement to strengthen early childhood care and education across the state.
- Provide consulting and technical assistance to a statewide advocacy coalition made up of parents, providers, philanthropy, businesses and advocates, specifically in the areas of growth; fundraising; operations; infrastructure; and project planning, as it transitions from early stages into fully staffed/sustained operations.
- Distill and disseminate evidence, best practices, and learnings that can support other state and national efforts, as applicable.

RequirementsnDesired Skills and Experiencen
- n
- Ability to help strategize and prioritize early childhood initiatives, develop comprehensive statewide action plans and help guide steering committee members and working groups to make effective decisions.
- Ability to understand complex systems, leverage models from other geographies, and bring innovative thinking to the plan development process.
- Experience developing positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders based upon mutual trust and respect. Preferred candidate will have established early childhood relationships in order to gain early traction in the work.
- Deep commitment to equity and experience in meaningful stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to form partnerships, motivate and build buy-in across grassroots, senior business and government leaders, nonprofit and philanthropic stakeholders.
- Knowledge and experience in early childhood education system, policies, and pedagogy best practices for developing whole learners through past leadership roles in the sector.
- Organizational and project management skills with demonstrated experience managing end-to-end projects.
- Strong communication skills-both verbal and written. Comfort with public speaking. Ability to translate information into clear outputs for key stakeholders.
- Self-starter who is pro-active and demonstrates high levels of motivation, organization and accountability and is capable of working well both independently and as a team member.

BenefitsnCompensation and BenefitsnSalary range is $100,000 to $110,000 plus benefits. Full-time employees are eligible for paid time-off and medical, dental, and life insurance.nWork Location and RequirementsnThis job is mostly remote, but will require attending key meetings in Connecticut.
